Tim Cook released Apple’s third-quarter earnings in
Tuesday. The first topic in his statement is Apple’s growth in China. The great
China’s revenue is took two-thirds of the whole revenue in Asia-Pacific. In Q3,
Apple’s Greater China revenue is $2.2 billion less than the revenue in Q4. He attributes
half of the 2.2 billion dallors to the change of the channel inventory, not the
underlying sell-through of iPhone.
His word implies that the Greater China is still the
biggest market for Apple’s product. Is it a good phenomenon for China or a bad
one for Apple?
One the one hand, the economic development in China has
no doubt increases the sale of iPhone in China. Meanwhile it makes the main
source of Apple’s revenue and its profit. On the other hand, too dependent on a
single market for a big company seems not that good. What if some big problems
exist in this market? As a big company to diverse its market cannot be ignored.
